A New Chapter by the Sea

A New Chapter by the Sea

There are moments in life when you begin to feel the pull of somewhere else. Not because anything is necessarily wrong with where you are, but because you start imagining what life might look like somewhere different.

For us, that place was Cornwall.

After years of living in London, we found ourselves longing for more time outdoors, a slower pace of life and a little more breathing room for our family. We dreamed of muddy little wellies by the door, afternoons spent wandering along the coast and our children growing up with the sea and countryside close at hand.

At the beginning of September, that dream became a reality. We packed up our London life in just 48 hours and headed west with two small children, a rather ridiculous number of boxes and a mixture of excitement and nerves.

Now, we're settling into a little cottage overlooking Falmouth Harbour, discovering new walks, finding our favourite corners of the coast and slowly making this place home. It's early days, but there's something lovely about beginning again, seeing familiar things differently and finding inspiration in unexpected places.

Finding our way home

Perhaps I've always been drawn to places with a strong sense of identity. I was born in Bucharest and spent much of my childhood with my grandparents in a small village in eastern Romania. Those early years left me with a lasting appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, natural materials and the knowledge passed quietly from one generation to the next.

That connection to place is at the heart of Casa De Folklore. Through our handmade Romanian ceramics, I want to celebrate the artisans, traditions and stories behind the objects we bring into our homes.

And now, Cornwall is becoming part of that story, too.

I'm excited to discover the local makers, artists, growers and independent businesses that make this corner of the world so special. There's something wonderful about the possibility of bringing different creative worlds together, finding unexpected connections and learning from the people around us.

A new chapter, slowly unfolding

Life hasn't magically become slower. There are still school runs, endless washing, work to be done and plenty of boxes to unpack. But I hope that, in time, we'll find a different rhythm. More walks, more time outdoors and a stronger connection to the community around us.

For Casa, I'm looking forward to new friendships, creative collaborations and opportunities to bring people together through craft, food, flowers and beautiful objects. I don't have it all figured out just yet, and I rather like that.

For now, we're finding our feet, discovering our surroundings and learning to call Cornwall home.

Because Casa De Folklore has never been only about ceramics. It's about the stories we carry, the traditions we preserve and the connections we make along the way.

And perhaps that's what this move is about, too, making room for something new without losing sight of where we came from.

Bringing a little piece of Romania with us, and allowing Cornwall to become part of our story.

Here's to new beginnings, unexpected friendships and the lovely things that happen when we find ourselves somewhere new.

From our little corner of Cornwall, with love.
