Beautifully handcrafted in Romania using skills passed down for generations, our cooking clay pot is a gorgeous addition to your kitchen. Each pot is thrown by hand into a beautiful and traditional shape, before being left to dry and finally baked in a wood-fired kiln
- Size: 11.5cm
Cooking with a clay pot adds texture and flavour to your favourite dishes. The steam helps the meat to stay moist and tender and the vegetables juicy and flavorful.
Never put a clay pot in a preheated oven as it will crack from the shock of the heat. Place your clay pot in the oven, then turn the oven on. Don't use on direct flame. Once you have finished cooking your meal, let the clay pot cool in the oven before taking it out.
We do everything possible to ensure that your items will arrive on time and undamaged. As with all handmade crafts, no two pieces are the same, and, as a result, some minor differences may exist from piece-to-piece. Each pattern is individual, and colours will vary depending on the piece selected.
Meet The Artisan
Husband and wife, Maricel & Maria Mocanu, are the only potters left in the south-east Moldova region. The clay pots that form in Maricel’s hands are made using traditional techniques passed down for generations. The clay used, collected from the nearby Siret river, is kneaded and kneaded to remove all impurities. Each piece is moulded in their home atelier, then skilfully hand-painted with a modern design. No two pieces are exactly the same, each one telling the story of its journey from the river bed, through Maricel & Maria's skilful hands, to your table.
