MEET THE ARTISAN
Maria, from Vâlcea county Romania, honours Horezu pottery and has practiced the craft since she was a young girl. Each piece is lovingly handmade in her home atelier using techniques that have been passed down through generations of artisans. The colours used are natural, made from local minerals and clays, then applied to the ceramics with cow horns and finetuned with wooden sticks. The technique is called „jirăvirea“. Even the clay is made by Maria. Each piece is shaped traditionally on a simple kick wheel and decorated with a traditional motif.
We do everything possible to ensure that your items will arrive on time and undamaged. As with all handmade crafts, no two pieces are the same, and, as a result, some minor differences may exist from piece-to-piece. Each pattern is unique and colours will vary depending on the piece selected.
